Last year I was commissioned to illustrate a cover for the Vladimir Nabokov novel Bend Sinister. It is one of a series of Nabokov covers that have been re-released by Penguin. Pentagram designed the layout and background pattern for each book and a different illustrator was asked to illustrate each one. Here is the cover for Bend Sinister, which was released last week.

Here is an illustration I created for the current issue of Popshot, a poetry and illustration magazine where each issue contains a collection of poems written to a theme. A selection of illustrators are then invited to each interpret and illustrate one of the poems. My image illustrates a poem entitled 'Taking Off Our Shoes' by Hollie McNish. The image was created using graphite and colour pencil.

I was asked to create a piece of work for 'Go Red!', a charity event for The Richard House Children's Hospice. Illustrators and artists each created an image of either a head, body or legs, then the images will be arranged together to produce an assortment of weird and wonderful creatures. The images will then be auctioned at the Coningsbury Gallery in London and all proceeds will go to the hospice. Here is my 'robot contraption legs' contribution! This is an illustration I did for Nature for an article about the human genome, about all the gaps and bits of the genome that have kept it from being finished. The reference genome was a hotch-potch of different people's DNA and the task remains to smooth it out in order to make a sequence that is most representative of humanity.

Here are some illustrations I did for the current issue of Nature: The International Journal of Science. The images were created for an article about DNA barcodes and the fact that mitochondrial sequences - such as those that give rise to each species's unique bar code - might actually be linked to the way species evolve. The images were created using ink.
